Coronavirus UK: Prevention, Symptoms & latest advice from the Public Health England and the NHS

The Department of Health and Social Care and Public Health England have reported that so far, nine patients have tested positive of coronavirus in the UK. Trent Nursing Ltd cares for both its staff and service users, especially those who are vulnerable and at high risk due to a weakened immune system and the elderly. According to Public Health England here is crucial advice on ways to spot the symptoms, protect yourself and those around you and what to do if you have been in contact with an infected person.

What are the symptoms of coronavirus?
The main warning signs of coronavirus are:

• Coughing

• Fever

• Diarrhoea

• A high temperature

• Shortness of breath

• Dry cough

In serious cases, coronavirus can cause a very high fever, kidney failure and pneumonia.

How does coronavirus spread, and how can you protect yourself?
Since coronavirus is new , it is still not very clear on how coronavirus can spread from person to person. Similar viruses spread in cough droplets and through the air when infected people cough or sneeze, or through close personal contact such as hand shaking. It’s also possible to be infected by getting in contact or touching an object or surfaces with the virus on it and then touching your face before washing your hands thoroughly.

How to protect/prevent yourself and others, from the infection,

• Always wash your hands thoroughly and frequently

• Always avoid touching your face
• Be more vigilant about not touching surfaces in public places

What is the NHS advice?

If you have recently travelled to a high-risk area such as

• China

• Thailand

• Japan

• Republic of Korea

• Hong Kong

• Taiwan

• Singapore

• Malaysia

• Macau
or if you’ve been in contact with somebody infected, and you start to develop symptoms, you should contact NHS 111 with immediate effect for advice.
You should not go to the doctor or hospital, as if you have the virus, you may risk spreading it to others.

ISO 9001 is recognised worldwide as the international benchmark for quality within an organisation. Trent Nursing Agency have recently achieved certification in the ISO 9001: 2015 Standard through QMS International Ltd.

By achieving ISO 9001 certification, Trent Nursing are able to demonstrate to customers and suppliers that the systems we have in place meet the high standards set out by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO).

Each year, an external Audit is carried out by a third party to ensure our systems are maintained and any non-conformances are noted for correction.

CEO of Trent Nursing Mike Cooper said: ‘Implementing a quality management system will enhance our endeavour to meet the needs of our clients and exceed their expectations. This will also enable Trent Nursing to work more efficiently and ensures compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.’

Chris Case, the QMS Consultant who assessed Trent Nursing for the ISO 9001 certificate, said “they had very robust systems already in place, including an excellent internal booking system They really invested their time with me, being very interested and accepting of the Standard. They could see the benefits to their business and what improvements it could bring – an important part of the Standard”.

Chris added that the staff present on the day “were particularly helpful in providing information to enable the Quality Management System to be written”.

Implementing such an internationally recognised standard shows that Trent Nursing is dedicated to providing a quality service. In addition, it proves our commitment to continually improve our processes and systems to the benefit of our clients.
